Task 2 – Game
Evaluation
Play the Mekka Hornet game level.
Review its inspiration and evaluate its effectiveness.
Remember that you are trying to generate thoroughly thought through
concept art ideas for computer game graphics and apply project management
techniques to direct a project, showing creativity and flair and working
independently to professional expectations.
Genre – what type or category of game is
it?
Gut Reaction – what are your initial
impressions?
Content - the way it looks and why. Its
styling - words, imagery (character, object and environment), sound, colours,
fonts.
Construction - the way in which the
gameplay is structured and how the interaction is constructed (the mechanic).
What is the balance between challenge and engagement?
Target Audience – can you describe who the
game is designed for and who might want to play it?
Genre - it is a Top down shooter which is seen becauise of the camera angle and th classic shooting action, it is a Action game because its fast paced and you need to travel and fight against enemies, it is a mecha game because both the enemies and the player are mecha robots and the game is definetle retro you can tell becasue of the classic pixel art style.
Gut Reaction - it was meant to be in a bleak world, it as ominous because you never knew what was coming. i could also tell that even though seemed like a simple game it still had some complex programming.
Content - the enemies and player were meant to be Mecha and bugs at the same time, the colour used was green probably because it reminds you of nature and bugs, they chose to have it in the sky to give it more freedom, the sound was very repetitive but catchy and added to the ominous feeling the game gave you a bad feeling that made you know that more enemies will appear soon enough
Construction - the game has a very laggy feeling
Target Audience - Older males in the 30 - 40 range, those who like mecha games, those who like shooter games, retro fanatics
